Launched by Sir Michael Snyder, head of London Freemasons, in November 2017, the appeal aims to raise £2,500,000 to purchase two super high-rise rescue aerial platforms for London’s Fire Brigade. Sir Michael is delighted to report that the appeal has in just 12 months already reached the half-way mark and handed over a cheque for the balance of the cost of the first appliance.

Before a packed Freemasons Hall, the London Fire Commissioner Dany Cotton accompanied other senior fire officers received the latest instalment on behalf of London’s brave firefighters.

In his presentation speech, Sir Michael said “Through the magnificent generosity of London Freemasons this donation will enable London Fire Brigade to take delivery of the first of these extended height vehicles, which when in service, will be the highest in use in Europe”

This is the latest in a series of appeals that have already raised over £5m in the last five years in helping keep Londoners safer.

In her response, the London Fire Commissioner said “We are extremely grateful for this incredible donation from London Freemasons. This generosity will give London firefighters the resources they need to respond to a range of high rise incidents and ensure the very best equipment is available to protect all those living in, working in or visiting our city. Once again I would especially like to thank Sir Michael for supporting London Fire Brigade and making this appeal such a success.”
