If you are thinking of becoming a Freemason in London we would be delighted to hear from you.
When a new member seeks to joins us, we ask them if they hold a belief in a supreme being and they are a free man of mature age (21). These are the initial questions and most people can say yes to this. More questions will follow when you meet us and when you join us. You will need a proposer and seconder. We will arrange this from our existing members once we get to know you. A good idea might be, if you haven’t done so already, to check out the What is Freemasonry section on the United Grand Lodge of England website.
Still interested? Please use the Contact page to get in touch with our Secretary Bob Mitchell. Tell him who you are, where you live and what work you do or your profession. Let us know your contact details and one of our members will contact you. If we mutually agree to proceed, we will invite you to meet us one evening at Freemasons’ Hall in London.
We are recruiting. We welcome enquiries from potential joining members (light blue and dark blue) from the London Metropolitan area and adjoining Provinces. Over the last few years many of our members have retired or moved away from the greater London area. A lot of them have become non-dining or country members. Our number of full members has therefore declined.
Why join Zetland Lodge now? We can offer two big benefits. Either or both might apply to you.
The first benefit is Affordable London Masonry. If you are already a mason in London you will know how expensive it can be. A lot of this is based on dining charges. The good news is that, because of a legacy from a generous former member, we subsidise our dining. Our members and their guests only pay £30 for dining. So, you can afford to bring lots of guest to your new London lodge. As of 2025 we have frozen our subscription charges for three years at £230 for full members – this includes dining four times a year. Even better, providing you give sufficient notice of apologies for non-attendance to the Secretary, you will be credited back with £30 for not dining. That’s extremely fair, isn’t it?
The second benefit is Progression. Because several people have recently become non-dining or country members, we currently have vacancies for new full members to take up some of the progressive and non-progressive offices. If you are wearing a light blue apron and you are looking to progress to the IG, JD, SD, JW or SW offices we may be able to offer you a position. If you are wearing a dark blue apron and want to go round the offices again, we can offer this. Or other offices such as Chaplain, Charity Steward, Assistant Secretary and ADC are currently vacant.
Next steps. Please use the Contact page to get in touch with our Secretary Bob Mitchell. Tell him who you are, when and into which lodge you were initiated and what progress you have made or rank you hold in Freemasonry. Let us know your contact details and one of our Past Masters will contact you. If we mutually agree to proceed, we will invite you to one of our meetings as our guest so you can meet the other members.
